WHOLE BODY ACTING

details about the class

This class is on hiatus while Cheryl finishes the build-out on her new theatre in Chelsea.

In this class we will focus on

Finding ease and satisfaction in the work – through breath awareness, body awareness, and exercises focusing on intimacy, grounding, and release of energy

Preparation for the work – Text analysis (what forces are at play, what language does the author work in, how does the setting affect the character) and character analysis (who is the character, what does he/she want, how does he/she try to get it)

Monologues for auditions– Students are free to work on audition material. We will focus on being ready energetically, how to be at ease in the environment, how to choose good material for auditions, how to work with sides

Scene study – Choose a partner and a scene and receive guidance in the process of inhabiting the world of the character, growing your sense of self in the role. Learn how to work from an awareness of your breath and your impulses.

Original material – Bring your own writing to class. Cheryl has lots of experience with solo shows, including her own, and can help you bridge the twin worlds of writer and actor

Working every week – Regular stage time is an important facet of the learning process. Every student will receive individual attention in each class session.

Fee structure
Classes are $50 each. Students pay for four classes in a row, and payment for the next month is due at the end of each month. Students who miss a class can have one credit toward the next month. (only one credit per month will be given. Credits cannot be accumulated. They are good for the next month only)

Cheryl is available for private coaching. With her flexible schedule, she can accommodate last-minute preparation for auditions,
so feel free to call.
